In its latest advisory, Mozilla announced that the new 3.5.6 update patches seven vulnerabilites, including three rated "critical" and one "high". An equivalent is also available for version 3.0: patch 3.0.16, although Mozilla will stop supporting this older version in January 2010, asking users to upgrade to 3.5.
The critical vulnerabilities include a case of memory corruption causing browser crashes, a kind of problem that has been adressed in most of the previous patches of this version of the browser. The two other critical vulnerabilities concern issues related to media librairies. These last two are absent from the 3.0.16 patch, the associated features having been implemented in Firefox 3.5 only.
